This policy explains what personal data we collect when you use The Balanced Instructor, why we collect it, and what rights you have over it.

Certi Technologies Ltd is the data controller for the personal data described in this policy.
The short version
- Your data is stored on your device and backed up to your account so it survives a lost or replaced phone.
- We do not sell your data, we do not show advertising, and we do not use your data to train anything.
- You can delete your account and all of its data from inside the app.
What we collect
If you sign in with Apple
Apple sends us a unique identifier for your account and, depending on your choice at sign-in, your name and email address. If you choose Hide My Email, Apple gives us a private relay address rather than your real one. We never receive your Apple password.
Data you create in the app
When you are signed in, the following is stored on our servers so it can sync between your devices:

Some of this is personal and some of it may be sensitive to you. We treat all of it as confidential and access it only where necessary to run or support the service.
What we do not collect
We do not collect location data, contacts, photos beyond a logo you choose to add, health data from Apple Health, or advertising identifiers. We do not track you across other apps or websites.

Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal data and we do not share it for advertising. We use a small number of service providers who process data on our behalf:

Each is bound by contract to process data only on our instructions. We may also disclose data where required by law.
Payments
Subscriptions are purchased through Apple. Apple handles your payment details — we never see your card information. We receive only the fact that a subscription is active.
Where your data is stored
Your data is stored on servers operated by Supabase in Ireland (EU). Where data is transferred outside the United Kingdom, that transfer is protected by the safeguards permitted under UK data protection law, including the UK International Data Transfer Addendum and the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.
How long we keep it
- While your account is open: for as long as you use the app.
- After you delete your account: your data is deleted from our live systems promptly, and from routine backups within 30 days.
- Records we must retain: transaction records may be kept for up to six years to meet UK accounting and tax obligations.
Data held only on your device is deleted when you delete the app.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Access a copy of your personal data
- Have inaccurate data corrected
- Have your data deleted
- Restrict or object to how we use it
- Receive your data in a portable format
- Withdraw consent where we rely on it
You can delete your account and all associated data at any time from Settings → Delete account inside the app. For anything else, email Admin@balancedinstructor.com and we will respond within one month.
If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Security
Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to our systems is restricted and protected by row-level security, so your records are only reachable by your own account. No system is perfectly secure, but we take these obligations seriously.
Children
The app is intended for Pilates teachers and trainees and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal data, contact us and we will delete it.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes we will update the date at the top of this page and, where the change is significant, notify you in the app.
